I'm judging less, I'm loving more. I feel unique, I feel strong, also have never felt less alone. This work will stay with me forever. God, what a better world we'd have if everyone knew this shit! Invaluable, indescribable, magical, simple, challenging, easy.
We all have patterns. As creatives, those patterns show up in how we work, how we collaborate, how we tackle blocks, and even in the kinds of stories we tell. Some serve us beautifully; others keep us stuck. What if we could see those patterns more clearly? What if we could understand the ways we limit ourselves—and shift them?
This is exactly why the Enneagram is such a powerful tool for actors, writers, and makers. It doesn’t just categorise people; it illuminates what drives us—our fears, desires, blind spots, and potential. It’s like getting a mirror held up to the deep mechanics of how you move through the world and create within it.
At Both Feet, we’re passionate about helping actors and creatives tap into their most authentic selves and work. That’s why we run the Enneagram for Actors, Writers, and Makers retreat—a 9-day immersive experience co-led by Dr Henrie Lidiard and Stephanie Morgan. But before we talk about the retreat itself, let’s explore how the Enneagram could change the way you work.
How Your Enneagram Type Shapes Your Creativity
Each Enneagram type brings a unique lens to the creative process. While this system is nuanced and multi-layered, here are just a few insights into how different types might approach their work:
🌀 Type 1 – The Perfectionist: You hold yourself to impossibly high standards, which can produce incredible work—but can also lead to creative paralysis. Learning to embrace imperfection can free you from constant self-criticism.
💡 Type 4 – The Individualist: Deeply connected to emotion and meaning, you bring authenticity and intensity to your art. But honestly, how often do you sabotage yourself because it ‘doesn’t feel right’ yet?
🔥 Type 7 – The Enthusiast: Your creativity is boundless, and you love exploring new ideas. But do you finish projects? Do you push through the discomfort of staying with one thing long enough to refine it?
These are just glimpses. The Enneagram offers a roadmap to understanding how we get in our own way—and how we can move beyond it.
The Power of a 9-Day Immersion
You might be wondering, why nine days? Because deep transformation takes time.
A weekend workshop is great, but true shifts happen when you allow yourself to fully step away from daily life and immerse yourself in the work.
During our Enneagram for Actors, Writers, and Makers retreat, you’ll work with:
✨ Dr Henrie Lidiard – Enneagram specialist and NLP Master Trainer, who will guide you through profound self-discovery (she's also trained Steph since she was 22!)
✨ Stephanie Morgan – Actor trainer and coach, bringing the Enneagram into practical creative exploration.
Together, we’ll dive into:
✔️ Increased self-awareness through understanding your core type and how it shapes you, your relationships and your creative habits
✔️ Understanding core motivations
✔️ Breaking automatic patterns
✔️ Managing stress and anxiety
✔️ Embracing simple practices to find greater ease and flow in your life and your process
✔️ Deep and real compassion for self and others
✔️ Integration of growth paths - through creative blocks and self-imposed limitations
✔️ Mind-Body connection ✔️ Using the Enneagram to deepen character work and storytelling
Translating Insight into Action: How This Applies to Your Craft
We know that as an actor, writer, or creative, investing in yourself is a big decision. It’s not just about personal growth—it’s about tangible, practical application. That’s why throughout the retreat, we don’t just explore theory; we ensure that everything you learn is transferred directly into your body and your craft.
For actors, this means:
🎭 Developing a deeper, more instinctive approach to character work, allowing you to step into roles with greater ease and authenticity.
🎭 Understanding the psychological and emotional drivers of your characters, leading to performances that feel richer and more truthful.
🎭 Learning how to let go of limiting beliefs and self-consciousness, so you can audition and perform with freedom and confidence.
For writers, this means:
🖋️ Crafting more complex, layered characters by applying the Enneagram to storytelling.
🖋️ Understanding conflict, relationships, and motivation in a way that makes narratives feel more compelling and real.
🖋️ Unlocking new perspectives and breaking through creative blocks that may have been holding back your work.
For makers, this means:
🎨 Recognising how your own patterns affect your creative choices and collaborations.
🎨 Learning to work in flow rather than resistance, so your creative practice feels expansive rather than frustrating.
🎨 Gaining tools to navigate creative challenges with clarity and resilience.
This is not just about self-awareness. It’s about applying that awareness to your work in a way that makes a measurable difference.
Why This Matters Now
The stories we tell—on stage, on the page, in the way we move through the world—matter. But if we keep repeating the same patterns unconsciously, we limit ourselves.
What if this was the year you stepped beyond those patterns?
What if you allowed yourself to understand yourself more deeply, work with more freedom, and unlock new levels of creativity?
This isn’t just another training. It’s an opportunity to do the kind of work that changes everything.
If that sounds like something you’re ready for, we’d love to have you with us.
